
Rajia Sultana, a prominent Bangladeshi entrepreneur and social activist, was born in Dhaka in 1958. Her husband, the late M.A. Jaher, was a Bangladesh Biman officer and businessman. The couple has two children, Dip and Nupur. Their son, Dip, currently heads Dip Textiles. Owing to her husband’s aviation career, Rajia had the opportunity to travel extensively, gaining invaluable experiences.
With a deep-rooted love for nature since childhood, Rajia found solace in gardening. Inspired by her father, M.A. Rasheed, she developed a keen interest in plants and greenery during her childhood travels. Her passion for nature only grew stronger over the years.
Her involvement with Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, further enriched her understanding of plants and their role in human well-being and the environment.
In 1994, Rajia established “SHAKH,” a company specializing in landscaping and plantation. As a pioneering female entrepreneur, she set a new benchmark in this field. SHAKH is now one of Bangladesh’s leading landscaping and plantation firms. Notable projects include the landscaping of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial in Tungipara.
Expanding her ventures, Rajia launched “SHAKH Crafts” in 2006. This initiative focused on promoting Bangladeshi handicrafts, particularly dry flowers and Rajshahi silk, while empowering rural women.
